Teenage Mothers Mentorship Program – Mukuru, Kenya

Three AGF University Scholars designed and facilitated a five-week mentorship program for teenage mothers in Mukuru, Nairobi. The initiative combined emotional support, reproductive health education, and life skills training to help young mothers rebuild confidence, set personal goals, and explore new educational or vocational pathways. Through storytelling, poetry, art, and dance, participants learned to express themselves, heal emotionally, and regain hope for the future.

Impact:

  • Empowered 12 teenage mothers through mentorship and psychosocial support

  • Enhanced knowledge on mental health, self-care, and body autonomy

  • Fostered creativity, confidence, and peer connection through art and expression

  • Encouraged participants to re-enroll in school or pursue vocational skills

Sustainability:
The program created a replicable mentorship model with continued virtual support and connections to schools and training centers, ensuring lasting impact and community reintegration.
