Lydia igiraneza - Malawi
Bachelor of social science in community development -2025
It is with great pride and admiration that I reflect on the remarkable achievements of this degree over the years. As a young refugee girl who dreamed of furthering her education but had no means to do so, everything felt out of reach. All my gratitude goes to the African Adolescent Girl Fund (AGF), who believed in my dream and supported it until it became a reality. They say there is no sweet without sweat, and I have witnessed firsthand the incredible growth and dedication to excellence that has shaped this journey. I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the support you have given me throughout my academic path. They say together we can, and together, we made it. Your sponsorship not only lightened my financial burden, but also motivated me to work harder and strive for excellence in everything I do. As they say, education is the passport to the future. I am pleased to share the progress and achievements I have made, thanks to your generosity and belief in my potential. I want you to know that your investment in my education is truly making a difference. You have helped me achieve academic success and inspired me to believe in myself and aim even higher. I am determined to continue working hard so that one day, I can give back to others the same way you have supported me. Thank you again for your kindness, your encouragement, and your unwavering support. I am proud to share these achievements with you and I hope to continue making you proud in the years ahead.

Grace Ishimwe - Malawi
Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery - 2024
My name is Grace Ishimwe, and I was born and raised in a refugee camp where life was challenging. Many girls around me didn’t get the chance to finish school; some faced unplanned pregnancies, while others turned to early marriage in hopes of finding support from men. Even when my future seemed uncertain, I hsd a different vision for my life. All I ever wanted was to become a nurse and help others. Thanks to AGF, I was able to pursue my dream of studying nursing and midwifery, and I proudly graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery, earning a credit. Although the job market isn’t great right now, I’m doing internships to give back to my community and improve my skills, all while hoping for a brighter tomorrow. I’m determined to make a difference and support others who are in situations like mine.

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you and the entire AGF team for your incredible support throughout my Diploma in International Relations. I’m glad to share that I passed with Second Class Honors (Upper Division). Your support really meant the world to me, and I will continue to remain dedicated to the activities of AGF to witness its success. I also look forward to helping those who have not yet graduated to reach their goals to the best of my capacity.

Thuyshime Claire - Malawi
Bachelor in special needs education -
I grew up in a refugee family of eight in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Malawi. My father believed girls didn’t need education, but my mother—despite battling diabetes and hypertension—worked tirelessly to pay our school fees. Her strength taught me perseverance.
As a refugee girl, I faced constant bullying and discrimination, which led me to change my name to Thokozani Chikoya as an act of self-protection and empowerment. Despite many setbacks, I completed secondary school and earned a scholarship from AGF to study Special Needs Education at the Catholic University of Malawi.
My passion for this field comes from seeing how children with disabilities are often overlooked in refugee communities. Today, I am proud to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Special Needs Education and to be part of a generation of women breaking barriers through education.
My message to girls: never give up—your circumstances do not define your potential.

Shilder Mmboga - Kenya
Post Graduate Diploma in Education 2025
I am writing to you this message with a heart full of gratitude. The scholarship came at a time I had almost lost hope. And now a time like this I look at what I have achieved and feel greatly honoured. I feel empowered and bold enough having now qualified to be a high school teacher. In the teaching field I greatly believe that I'll get to interact directly with young ladies who need to be mentored and nurtured to become great leaders.
Thank you very much for the golden opportunity you granted me. Through it have not only interacted with ladies from Mukuru but also established a network of wonderful and brilliant minds from Malawi, South Sudan and Uganda.
I graduate today from Kenyatta University and I would like to share my photos to contribute to beautiful success stories of AGF. Thank you.

Jennifer Nyilueth - South Sudan
Master’s Graduate in Diplomacy, Development, and International Security - 2025
The scholarship you awarded me did far more than cover the costs of my education—it gave me hope, strength, and the confidence to believe in a future that once felt beyond reach. Your investment in me became the foundation upon which I built my academic success, and on Friday, 14th of November 2025, I proudly graduated because you believed I was worthy of this chance. Your support has changed the course of my life. It enabled me to learn, grow, and gain the skills I need to contribute meaningfully to diplomacy, development, and international security—fields that are especially important to me as a South Sudanese woman committed to peace and progress. The challenges were many, but your generosity made every step possible. Please know that your belief in my potential has left a lasting impact. You did not simply fund my education—you lifted a burden, opened doors that once felt locked, and empowered me to dream and achieve beyond my circumstances. I will forever carry that gift with me.
